A top price of 258p per kg was realised for a 536kg Limousin Heifer from David Dickinson, Brockwoodlees Farm, Canonbie, and purchased by W W Wales Butchers, Kilmarnock. Butchers cattle sold to average 248.8p per kg.

45 Calves were forward for the fortnightly sale. Top price for the day was £420 for a Fleckvieh bull from Midhill Farm.

Heifer Calves

On Monday 30/07/18, Lawrie and Symington Ltd sold 1075 Las and 888 Cast Ewes through Lanark.

 

The sale topped at £103 per head for Texels from Reid, Bengal Farm, and to 232 P/Kg for Texels from Hamilton, Gilmeadowland. Overall average was 182 P/Kg (SQQ 183p P/Kg).

 

LAS/HGT

A smaller show of 1076 lambs were forward, although quality greatly increased. Best quality lambs dearer on the week, heavy lambs also sharper. More lambs have been sold to advantage.

Another good show of 888 Cast Ewes were forward and met an animated trade with all classes dearer on the week, big and heavy ewes especially. Export type Blackface dearer, plain ewes similar.

Included today was the annual show and sale of Texel Prime Lambs on behalf of the Scottish Texel Club. An entry of 32 pens were forward, and ably judged by Mr Stuart Stark, Alton, Kilsyth, whoa warded the championship to outstanding lambs from Messrs Hamilton, Gilmeadowland, scaling 43kg and realizing £100 to the judge.

The reserve ticket went to Messrs Gilchrist, Newmill, scaling 39kg and realised £80 also to the judge. The show lambs averaged 196 P/Kg.
