Evening sees over 300 steaks plated up at Lanimer celebration finale
A week of celebrations for Lanark’s Lanimer festivities ended with a glorious finale on Saturday with 374 tickets selling for the much anticipated Lanimer Ball, setting a new record.
Hosted by Lawrie & Symington, the sell-out ball has become increasingly popular year after year and is now one of Lanark’s most celebrated local events. Steaks were a clear favourite this year with caterers Country Refreshments serving up over 300 fillets over the course of the evening, followed by dancing into the wee hours.
This is the tenth year the auction house has hosted the Lanimer Ball which mark King David the 1st granting Lanark the status of Royal Burgh during his reign from 1124 – 1153.
Lawrie & Symington’s Willie McCulloch, who organises the ball in conjunction with Country Refreshments, said:
“The Lanimer Ball has gone from strength to strength since we started hosting it ten years ago. This year sold out incredibly fast which is testament to all the hard work we put into organising the evening and the facilities we offer guests.
“Feedback from those in attendance has been as good as ever, with a more than a few people saying they’re looking forward to next year and asking when tickets will go on sale again! My advice to everyone would be to get in quick as we anticipate next year is going to be the most popular yet.
“We’ll be uploading photos from Saturday on our Facebook page so go online and tag anyone you know!”
Lawrie & Symington is celebrating 150 years of livestock auctions this year and will be exhibiting at the Royal Highland Show next month.
