Lawrie & Symington, Forfar had forward 26 Prime Cattle and 762 Prime Sheep.  

PRIME CATTLE

Bullocks (9) sold to a top of 238p per kg for a 575kg Limousin from D Lumgair & Son, Gask and purchased by Scott Bros, Dundee and to £1460.91 for a 627kg Limousin from Messrs A A & J Brand, Nethermyres to Flemings of Arbroath to average 222p per kilo.

Heifers (16) sold to 250p per kg and £1477.50 for a 591kg Limousin from J A Peters & Son, West Bog and purchased by the Firm of J B Penman Butchers, Crail to average 222p per kilo.

PRIME SHEEP

A larger show of 651 spring lambs were forward today with trade being easier on the week.  Lambs sold to 229.9p for a pair of 43.5kg Texels from Messrs H Shanks & Co, Easter Cash, Strathmiglo and to £101 for a 52.5kg Texel for S M Blair, Newbigging of Ceres to average 190p. (less 14p per kilo on the week, but up 32p per kilo on the corresponding sale last year) .

SQQ lambs avg. 196.8p.

Texel £100 Easter Cash & Newbigging of Ceres, Suff £99 Shandford, £96 West Pitcortie, Tex X £99 Over Baldinnie, £97 Inverdovat.

Also forward were 111 cast Ewes with trade a little sharper on the week.  A Texel Ewe from J W Farquharson, Horn and a Beltex Ewe from Stewart Lawrie, Hillhead of Careston both reached £100.
