Lawrie & Symington, Forfar had forward 50 Prime Cattle and  Cast Cows and Young Bull also 848     Prime Sheep.

PRIME CATTLE

Bullocks (8) sold to 247p per kg (twice), first for a 597 kg Limousin from Nethermyres and purchased by Falconer Family Butchers, Arbroath and secondly for a 610kg Limousin again from Nethermyres and purchased by Fleming Butchers, Arbroath and to £1542 per head for a 640kg Limousin from Gask and purchased by Fleming Butchers, Arbroath to average 234p per kg.

Heifers (31) sold to 268p per kg for a 587kg Limousin from Nethermyres and purchased by J.B. Penman Butchers, Crail and to £1662 per head for a 676kg Limousin from Craignathro to average 232p per kg.

PRIME SHEEP

A very mixed show of 685 lambs met a sharper trade on the week where more numbers could have been sold to suit buyers requirements. Lambs sold to 209.3p for a pen of 43kg Texels from Messrs M.A. Steele & Co., Goddens and to £100 for a pen of 48.5kg Beltex’s from A. & P.M. Gauld (A. Firm), Fawsyde to average 174.5p (up 20p on the week).

Cast Ewes & Rams (163). With trade slightly up on the week. Top Price of the day went to Mrs A.E. Barron, West Newton for a pen of Suffolk Ewes making £80.
