Lawrie & Symington, Forfar had forward  33  Prime Cattle and Cast Cows  and  671  Prime Sheep.

PRIME CATTLE

Bullocks (7) sold to 246p per kg for a 623kg Limousin from Nethermyres and purchased by Fleming Butchers, Arbroath and to £1655 per head for a 684kg Limousin from Gask and purchased by T. & A. Rennie, Forfar to average 239p per kg.

Heifers (22) sold to 258p per kg for an outstanding 555kg Limousin from Nethermyres and purchased by the Firm of W.E. Fairlie, Letham and to £1445 for a 610kg Limousin from West Bog and purchased by James Ewart Ltd., Monifieth to average 236p per kg.

PRIME SHEEP

With farmers busy at the Harvest, a smaller show of 492 lambs were forward. All classes would be slightly easier on the week. Lambs sold to 193.6p for a pair of 47kg Continentals from Messrs D. Stewart & Son, Mains of Dalrulzion and to £94 for a pen of 51kg Texels from the same home to average 167.5p (-3p on the week)

Beltex 191.6p Shandford, 189.3p Mains of Dalrulzion; Texel 191.5p Hallhill (Collessie), 187.8p Mains of Dalrulzion; Texel X 183.7p Clochie.

Leading Prices per head –

Texel £92 Mains of Dalrulzion, £90 Clochie & Hallhill (Collessie); Beltex £91 Shandford, £88 Mains of Dalrulzion.

Also forward was 179 Cast Ewes and  Rams. With trade being £8 - £10 dearer on the week, top price of the day went to Mr. A. Beattie, Tulliwhanland for a pair of Texel Ewes making £87.
