Lawrie & Symington, Forfar had forward 51 Prime Cattle, Cast Cows and Bull and 1361 Prime Sheep.

PRIME CATTLE

Bullocks (11) sold to 248p per kg for a 650 kilo  Limousin from Gask and £1612 per head for the same beast, this animal was Champion at Kirriemuir Show and purchased by James Ewart Ltd. to average 227p per kg.

Heifers (35) sold to 252p per kg (twice),  firstly for a 592 kilo Limousin and also for a 584 kilo Limousin both consigned by West Bog and purchased by J.B. Penman, Butchers, Crail and to £1504 per head for a 640 kilo Limousin and purchased by D. Greenhill, Forfar to average 223p per kg.

PRIME SHEEP

PRIME LAMBS

A larger show of 1033 lambs were forward today with all classes following the nationwide trend in being slightly easier on the week. Lambs sold to 206.7p for a 45kg Beltex from the Firm of William Mather & Sons, Shandford and to £96 twice, firstly for a pair of 51kg Continentals from Michael S. Sands Ltd., Milton and secondly for a pen of 52.5kg Texels from Messrs D. Bryce & Son, Formal to average 182.3p (back 3p on the week, but up 40.3p on the corresponding sale last year).

Beltex 201.1p Horn, 197.7p Scobshaugh; Cont. 193.5p West Pitcorthie; Texel 192.5p Inverdovat, 191p Beech Wynd; Suffolk 191.7p Tomlea.

Leading Prices per head –

Texel £94 Hallhill (Kinneff) and Wairds of Alpity; Belt. £93 Shandford, £90.50 Horn; Cont. £92 Milton; Suff. £92 Tomlea.

Cast Ewes and Rams (328) were forward with all classes £5-£10 cheaper on the week. Top Price of the day went to Inverdovat Farms for a pen of Suffolk Ewes reaching £82.50.

Other Leading Prices –

Texel £82 Horn and Chapelton of Menmuir; Suffolk £80 Chapelton of Menmuir; Cross £66 Mains of Creuchies, £65 Prieston, £64 Chapelton of Menmuir.

Also forward was 26 Store Lambs selling to a Top Price of £66 for Texels from Inveredrie, Glenshee.
