Lawrie & Symington, Forfar had forward 38 Prime Cattle and OTM’s also 563  Prime Sheep.  

PRIME CATTLE

Heifers (29) Topping the sale was a cracking Limousin Heifer that was Champion Butchers Beast at Kirriemuir Show consigned by J.A. Peters & Son, West Bog, scaling 584 Kilos and selling to 276p per kg or £1611.84 and purchased by the Firm of J.B. Penman, Crail to average 219p per kg.

Bullocks (7) sold to 230p per kg twice, firstly for a 601 kg Limousin and secondly a 598 kg Limousin both cattle consigned by A.A. & J. Brand, Nethermyres and purchased by Scott Bros., Dundee and to £1404 per head for a 702kg Limousin from the Firm of D.C. Pate, Kincreich and purchased by Stuart Annand, Crathie Lodge to average 214p per kg.

PRIME SHEEP

An excellent Show of 482 Spring Lambs were forward, with trade slightly sharper on the week. Lambs sold to 232.5p for a pen of 40kg Texels from R. & A. Stoddart, Mill of Inverarity and to £101 for a 49kg Texel from the same home, to average 193.3p (plus 3.3p on the week and up 46.7p on the corresponding sale last year). SQQ lambs ave. 207.7p

Texel £100 Skilmafilly (Auchnagatt), £97 Mill of Inverarity; Beltex £99 Shandford; Texel X £94 Tulliwhanland, Over Baldinnie and Fallaw; Suffolk £90 Mill of Inverarity.

Also forward was a smaller show of 81 Cast Ewes that met a similar trade on the week. A top price of £100 was reached twice for Texel ewes from Andrew Beattie, Tulliwhanland and D. & J. Smith, Fallaw.
