Lawrie & Symington, Forfar had forward 41 Prime Cattle and OTM’s also 381 Prime Sheep.  

PRIME CATTLE

Bullocks (11) sold to 217p per kg for a 620 kg Limousin from Nethermyres and purchased by Stuart Annand, Crathie Lodge and to £1393 per head for a 651 kg Limousin from Gask and purchased by Firm of W.E. Fairlie, Letham to average 210p per kilo.

Heifers (23) sold to 248p per kg for a 540 kg Limousin from Nethermyres and purchased by Firm of J.B. Penman, Butchers, Crail and to £1371 per head for a 650kg Limousin from Skilmafilly (Auchnagatt) and purchased by Stuart Annand, Crathie Lodge to average 2.22p per kilo.

PRIME SHEEP

An excellent Show of 363 Spring Lambs met a strong trade again this week, where more lambs could have been sold to suit buyers requirements.

Lambs sold to 227p for a pair of 44.5 kg Beltex’s from Messrs D. Smith, Scobshaugh and to £104 for a pen of 48kg Texels from the Firm of A.M. Connon, Skilmafilly, Auchnagatt to average 204.1p (plus 2p per kilo on the week).

SQQ lambs averaged 214p

Texel 219.2p Skilmafilly, 218.5p Easter Cash; Beltex 215.7p Scobshaugh, 211.2p Clochie; Cont. 214.8p West Pitcorthie; Suff. 213.3p West Pitcorthie, 211.6p Wairds of Alpity.

Leading prices per head –

Texel £103 Skilmafilly, £100 Broadshade; Belt. £101 Scobshaugh, £98 Clochie; Suffolk x £99.50 Kirkton of Kingoldrum and Over Baldinnie.

A smaller show of Cast Ewes & Tups were on offer with trade being easier on the week. Top price of the day of £84 went to Alan J. & Mrs Pauline Simpson, Gallowshade for a Suffolk Ewe.
